The Invention of Lying
Imagine a world where no one knows how to lie. When at a restaurant, the waiter will tell you on your very face what he thinks of you or a date telling you that he/she doesn’t expect much from you and is spending time only because there was nothing better to do for the night.
These are some of the incidents that happen in the movie The Invention of Lying which is written and directed by Ricky Gervais and Matthew Robinson. The movie also happens to be the writer director duo’s first movie. Ricky Grevais is also the main lead in the movie playing the role of script writer named Mark Bellison who is probably hated by everyone.
The movie is all about Mark accidentally inventing lying and the change that follows. The movie seemed to be dragged later on as the director didn’t know how to end it. This is where the movie does badly. It would have been great for a short documentary.
