My Sister’s Keeper
Actor turned director Nick Cassavetes has beautifully adapted My Sister’s Keeper from Jodi Picoult’s 2004 novel with the same title. Cameron Diaz plays the role of Sara Fitzgerald who is a mother of three, Anna, Kate and Jesse played by Abigail Breslin, Sofia Vassilieva and Evan Ellingson respectively.
Jason Patric plays Brian Fitzgerald who her husband and father to the three girls. The movie strongly revolves around Anna and Kate.
The only reason Anna was got into this world was to save her sister Kate who is suffering from acute promyelocytic leukemia. This frustrates Anna as she gets older and starts realizing that she has no life of her own as the only thing she does is does in and out of hospital. The relation between Anna and Kate is that of love and since Kate knew that hers was a terminal illness, she helped Anna to file a case against their parents.
